Since 1887, NC State has strived to offer world-class teaching and research. Today, we’re ranked in the top 1% of universities on the planet. As a land-grant institution, we have a duty to open the doors of education for everyone. We’re a Research 1 university, recognized worldwide for our big ideas and bigger impact. And we’re a public university — one that believes in community, equality, sharing what we learn and serving the greater good.

While we have our roots in agriculture and engineering, students can take their pick from more than 100 majors. We’re home to leading programs in design, education, humanities and social sciences, management, natural resources, sciences, textiles, veterinary medicine and more. Across 12 colleges and 68 departments, our 38,400+ students unite powerful ideas with purposeful action, unleashing our true Think and Do spirit.
