How did the Stamps Scholarship help shape your undergraduate experience?
Through the Stamps Scholarship, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Hong Kong and travel while learning about culture to 8 Southeast Asian countries. I also had the opportunity to volunteer on a medical brigade to underserved communities in Panama. Furthermore, the Stamps Scholarship also enabled me to take part in 3 alternative spring break service trips, as a site leader for two of them. I also had the opportunity to spend my summers conducting medically relevant research at the Miller School of Medicine.
Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your freshman self?
I would advise my freshman self to take advantage of all of the opportunities available at the University of Miami both academically and extracurricular. The time in college flew by, so I’d advise myself to explore my passions and devote time early on to the pursuits I find meaningful.
Who has had the greatest impact on you throughout your college career and how so?
One of my biochemistry professors had the greatest impact on my college career. He served as my advisor throughout my college experience and encouraged me to challenge myself academically and to pursue research experiences that broadened my knowledge and encouraged my interest in medicine.
Please share your most memorable Stamps Scholar experience.
My most memorable Stamps Scholar experience was probably attending the Stamps Conference at the University of Michigan my freshman year. It was incredible to meet so many talented and driven students from around the US and to get to know the Stamps Scholars at the University of Miami better.
Plans after graduation?
After graduation I am planning to attend the Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine.
