How did the Stamps Scholarship help shape your undergraduate experience?
The Stamps Scholarship afforded me the opportunity to spend a semester studying European architecture and history in Prague, Czech Republic. It also gave me endless opportunities for academic enrichment beyond my program of study, including access to speakers, concerts, and small group discussions with leaders in a wide variety of fields.

Tell us a piece of wisdom you’ve learned over the past four years.
Over the last four years, I’ve learned that the most engaging discussions happen with people who are unapologetically passionate about what they do. Some of my best conversations have been about topics that I didn’t understand, with people who could gush about them for hours. It’s a great way to learn more about the world and to share your own passions with others as well.

Who has had the greatest impact on you throughout your college career and how so?
My four roommates have had an immense impact on my college career. They were the first friends I made living in the freshman dorms. They have been there for me when I struggled through introductory biology and chemistry, stayed up late to study with me as I prepared for my MCAT, spent a semester eating (and studying) our way through Europe together, and have now celebrated our successes together as we prepare to head into the ‘real world.’ Their support and friendship have made the last four years some of the best of my life.

What’s your favorite Stamps Scholar memory?
My favorite memory is the shark tagging trip the Stamps Scholars took during my freshman year with the University of Miami’s RJ Dunlap Marine Conservation Program. While it was certainly a once-in-a-lifetime experience holding down a shark and taking its blood samples, the most valuable part of this experience was learning about the university’s shark conservation efforts and just how important this issue is to so many people in the UM and local Miami community.

What comes next?
After graduation, I will be starting my first year of medical school, pursuing a dual MD/MPH degree at Duke University School of Medicine.
