How did the Stamps Scholarship help shape your undergraduate experience?
The Stamps Scholarship at the University of Miami has allowed me to do what I couldn’t have done anywhere else: pursue both my passions of business and the life sciences. By enabling us to participate in a plethora of internships, organizations, and programs, this scholarship ensures that we are not just learning in the classroom, but rather we are getting out and exploring hands-on, giving back to the world in all kinds of ways, and finding our niche, however unique it may be. I will be forever grateful and honored to be a Stamps Scholar.

Tell us a piece of wisdom you’ve learned over the past four years.
The classic Ralph Waldo Emerson quote “Everyone I meet is in someway my superior” was so applicable throughout my college career as I was exposed to such diverse individuals and perspectives, which taught me that I can learn something from everyone. Even if we don’t always agree, what is important is that we at least pause to consider every perspective, every aspect, and every possibility before making our own conclusions; otherwise, our ideas remain half-hearted and not fully representative of their respective concepts. We cannot reach our full potential of intelligence if we are stubborn in accepting new ideas, or at least reflecting on their validity and implications.

Who has had the greatest impact on you throughout your college career and how so?
First and foremost I would not have had the opportunities and abilities to pursue my passions without the support and guidance from my parents. I owe everything to them. Furthermore, I am indebted to my many mentors who have helped shape my future goals and career path, in particular Daniel Moubayed and Shivani Hanchate, both of whom I am privileged to call dear friends.

What’s your favorite Stamps Scholar memory?
In my freshman year, our Stamps Scholar cohort went out into the Atlantic ocean with researchers from the UMiami Rosenstiel School of Marine Science to go shark-tagging. Incredibly, we ended up catching a shark they had previously tagged, so we helped with sample and data collection for their research. It was amazing being a part of that, and now I can say I have touched a live shark!

What comes next?
I’m off to NYC where I will be a Global Investment Banking analyst at RBC Capital Markets.

“I find that the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand as in what direction we are moving: To reach the port of heaven, we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it— but we must sail, and not drift, nor lie at anchor.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.
