How did the Stamps Scholarship help shape your undergraduate experience?
It allowed me to achieve my ideal undergraduate experience at a school with a welcoming and nurturing environment while permitting me to travel to new places without financial burden.
Tell us a piece of wisdom you’ve learned over the past four years.
Venture out of your comfort zone. You don’t really learn about who you are unless you expose yourself to an unfamiliar environment with new people and ideas.
Who has had the greatest impact on you throughout your college career and how so?
My parents have been amazing, even though I’m over 1,000 miles from home. They have been supportive and encouraging during my whole time at Ole Miss. However, the best thing they have done was allow me to fail and learn from my mistakes. Part of going to school so far from everyone I knew was to learn more about myself. I can honestly say that I’ve grown tremendously as a person from that.
What’s your favorite Stamps Scholar memory?
I loved getting to meet the Stamps family face to face and tell them everything they had made possible through their kindness and generosity. They really enjoy hearing all of the cool and interesting projects we as scholars are able to accomplish.
What comes next?
I’m going to Vanderbilt to pursue a PhD in the Biomedical Sciences through their Interdisciplinary Graduate Program!
