How did the Stamps Scholarship help shape your undergraduate experience?
The Stamps Scholarship gave me the freedom to explore opportunities I never thought possible while encouraging me to view all endeavors with a service-focused lens. The inspiring and uplifting community of Stamps Scholars throughout the nation encouraged me to be confident, to lean in to my leadership abilities, and to delve deeply into my passions. Due to the generosity of the Stamps Scholarship, I was able to study abroad to both New Zealand and Chile to expand my knowledge of global agriculture and food production, create an Honors Research Project in swine nutrition, and travel to various conferences. I feel deeply grateful for the Stamps Scholarship and the network of people it has exposed me to which I am sure will impact me long into the future.
Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your freshman self?
I would tell myself to focus on the present moment, to spend less time worrying about what cannot be controlled and to take time to celebrate the small wins and appreciate everyone around me.
Who has had the greatest impact on you throughout your college career and how so?
Throughout my college career, one of my club advisors Mariette Benage has had the greatest impact on me as a mentor and friend. She gave me the confidence to believe in myself, the encouragement to focus on my own journey, and instilled in me that I could achieve things greater than I believed possible.
