How did the Stamps Scholarship help shape your undergraduate experience?
Because of the Stamps Scholarship, I was able to have a variety of unique undergraduate experiences, such as traveling to Honduras for a medical missions trip, as well as studying abroad my fall semester of senior year in Quito, Ecuador. I am so grateful to Mr. Stamps and the entire foundation for their support and continued encouragement to seek out my dreams!
Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your freshman self?
Don’t be afraid to try anything! If you are interested in something that is out of your comfort zone or seems daunting, just go for it! You’ll be so glad you did later.
Who has had the greatest impact on you throughout your college career and how so?
My academic and research advisor Dr. Hagan has always pushed me to make the most out of my time at Etown. He has always supported my choices and challenged me to always be thinking about how I can improve. My strong relationship with him allowed me to perform undergraduate research, attend national and local Chemistry conferences, and gain confidence in myself as a chemist!
What’s your favorite Stamps Scholar memory?
Attending SSNC15 with my fellow Etown Stamps Scholars my first year of college was a blast! We got to hear a lot of inspirational speakers, tour Georgia Tech, and of course, see the Georgia Aquarium! It was a really fun way to connect to Stamps Scholars at my college, as well as across the country.
What comes next?
I will be attending Emory University to pursue a PhD in the Biochemistry, Cell, and Developmental Biology program! I hope to join a lab focused on either cancer or neurodegenerative disease research.
