How did the Stamps Scholarship help shape your undergraduate experience?
The Stamps Scholarship allowed me to come to Etown, where I had numerous opportunities to gain in-the-classroom experience to better prepare me for my career as an educator. The Stamps Scholarship also allowed me to study abroad both for a semester in Aix-en-Provence, France and for May Term in South Africa. These experiences have shaped me into a more globally minded educator and citizen, and helped shape the outcome of my undergraduate thesis.
Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your freshman self?
Don’t be afraid to try new things and take some risks. You might discover something you really love that you never imagined you could do.
Who has had the greatest impact on you throughout your college career and how so?
My parents have had the greatest impact on my throughout my college career because they have always supported me when I faced difficult decisions. They are my biggest cheerleaders, and they believed in me even when I did not always believe in myself. I would not have been able to accomplish half the things I have if I did not have their love and support.
What’s your favorite Stamps Scholar memory?
My favorite Stamps Scholar memory was having Mr. and Mrs. Stamps come to campus to celebrate the graduation of our first Stamps cohort in 2015. It was fun to be together with the other scholars without the stress of school work, and to get to thank Mr. and Mrs. Stamps in person.
What comes next?
I have accepted a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in India for the 2018-2019 school year. I will leave for India in late June to begin orientation.
