Kelly Catanzaro
Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine

Degrees: PhD and DVM

How did the Stamps Scholarship help shape your undergraduate experience?
The Stamps experience supported me by offering leadership opportunities and financial support. The financial support I received from the Stamps scholarship has enabled me to pursue an internship/residency pathway after I graduate with my DVM.

Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your freshman self?
There are always bumps in the road no matter how well you plan your future. You just need to keep going and know that you can get through it with the right support team. Friends and family are everything.

Who has had the greatest impact on you throughout your college career and how so?
Dr. Tom Inzana, my PhD advisor, has had a great impact on my graduate career. He has allowed me the freedom to develop my research mind, but also been there to support me when I needed the help.

What comes next?
I will be starting a Small Animal Rotating Internship at MedVet in Akron, Ohio. This rotating internship is the next step before applying for a veterinary medicine residency.
